Although the Yonaguni horse has the smallest body in a Japanese native horse, and is gentle character, it is strong, and a hoof is hard, the limbs are strong, and it excels also in endurance. From ancient times it was utilized for farming, and conveyance of agricultural products, and was an important existence for people. Recently, it was released from the duty as a labor horse by the spread of a cultivator or vehicles.
The number of the horse is maintained by protection of the inhabitant and it is utilized for the cultivation of aesthetic sentiments and therapy between the people and a horse with today.
The horse riding experience
It is said that there are about 100 of the Yonaguni Horses on the island, which have been named as a special natural treasure. Because of its friendly and quiet nature anyone can try riding it with ease.
