The Oku Lake Hamana Area (Hosoe, Flower viewing around Oku Hamanako, Inasa and Mikkabi) is called the “Backroom of Enshu”, offering good tours of famous temples, shrines, gardens and flowers. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful scenic spots, ancient promenades, and many kinds of fruit and mushroom picking.
Kiga Checkpoint
The Sekisho (checkpoint) along Himekaido (Princess Road) was established by Tokugawa leyasu in 1601. The gate and the main building were restored in 1990. The existing part of the main building is designated as city government cultural asset.

Hamamatsu City Himekaido and Dotaku Historical Tradition Museum
Dotaku, the bell-shaped bronze vessels of the Yayoi period, and materials and information from agriculture, fishery, and Himekaido Road and checkpoints from the Edo period are exhibited in this museum.
The stone pavement still remains on Himekai-do, making us think of olden days.

Hosoe Jinja Shrine
The Hosoe Shrine is very unique as it is dedicated to the deity of earthquakes. Feel the historical giant camphor tree. The Hosoe Shrine Gion Festival & Hosoe Yukata Festival is held around Hosoe Jinja Shrine on the third Saturday and Sunday of July each year.

Shosan Horinji Temple
This Chinese style temple, specific to the Obakushu Zen Sect, is a unique and valuable site. The Buddhist image-enshrined temple building and the Hojo style annex are both the government designated important cultural assets. Fucha Ryori, Zen vegetarian cuisine, is served at the Hojo house (reservations are necessary). This temple is one of the famous temples in the northern area of Lake Hamana.

Hamanako Bicycle Touring Track and Camping
Cycling track along Red Rose Bike Bridge (Miwotsukushi Bridge) over Miyakoda River is in harmony with the natural beauty of Lake Hamana (Hamanako) – a harmony for cyclists.
Called “Yurin”, this well maintained bicycle track can be enjoyed by people of all ages. There are 7 bike terminals along the track where bicycles can be rented. Have fun!
“Miwotsukusi Bridge”, exclusively for cyclists use, is the symbol of this bicycle track and blends well with the nature of Oku Hamanako.
Rental fee: Adults ¥500, elementary school students and younger ¥300 Deposit: ¥1,000 (refunded if returned to the same terminal).

Hamamatsu Station Bus Terminal No. 15 “Kiga, Mikkabi Iki” (50min.)
– Take a Miyakoda line bus bound for “Fruit Park” at Gate #16 at JR Hamamatsu Station Bus Terminal. Ride for about 60 minutes and get off at “Fruit Park”.
– Take the Enshu Railway Nishi-Kajima Line to the terminal “Nishikajima” station and change trains to the Tenryu Hamanako Railroad line bound for “Shinjohara”. After about 11 minutes’ ride, get off at “Fruit Park” and walk 8 minutes to the north.
