Osugi-dani is a valley at the upper reaches of the Miya river featuring a gorge and waterfalls, within an ancient forest of huge cedars which dominate this relatively untouched region. Nearby is a deep pond of clear water where Japan’s highest yearly rainfall is recorded. A ten-kilometer hiking trail that extends from Osugi-dani to Odaigahara gives visitors an opportunity to catch glimpses of the region’s varied wildlife.

The primitive forest grows luxuriantly, with plank walkways and enjoy walking along the old road, which remains like it was in prosperous days, and crossing the Miya River and walk over the Miyagawa Bridge to enter your travel destination of Ise. However, it is not possible to walk the full course in a day trip, and the path is steep, so it is intended for experienced hikers.
Getting There: One hour by bus from Kintetsu Mise station and a three-hour walk to the trail head.
