Mt. Fuji from Shimizu Port

S-Pulse Dream Plaza

The S-Pulse Dream Plaza has something for all ages, including a movie theater, restaurants, stores of all kinds, a supermarket, and ten sushi restaurants serving an amazing variety of the freshest fish in what is known as the Shimizu Sushi Avenue.

The S-Pulse Dream Plaza has become a festive spot that contains Japan’s only Sushi Museum, Shimizii Sushi Food Court, which consists of 10 sushi restaurants offering fresh tuna, Shimizu Soccer Shop – the Shimizu kingdom of soccer fans, MOVIX Shimizu – a multi-screen cinema complex and the Chibi Maruko Land featuring the world of the famous anime character Chibi Maruko.

Shimizu S-Pulse – Football Club

The Shimizu S-Pulse is one of the ten founding teams of the Japan Soccer League (J.League). The hand-prints and footprints of team members are embedded along S-Pulse Avenue near Shimizu Port. The Shimizu S-Pulse players soccer practice field – “MIHO GROUND” is next to the J-League team’s clubhouse.

Out-Sourcing Stadium Nihondaira

Headquarters of the Shimizu S-Pulse, the stadium is halfway up the Nihondaira Plateau with a view of Mt. Fuji. During the soccer season, the stadium is filled with the cheers.of orange-clad supporters of the local team. It is currently mostly used for football matches and has been the home stadium of the J-League’s Shimizu S-Pulse since 1993. The stadium is surrounded on two sides by green tea fields and due to its elevated position provides panoramic views across Shimizu and Suruga Bay.

Shimizu Port

The Shimizu Port has two faces: Its fleet hauls in Japan’s largest catch of tuna and it is one of a handful of officially designated key international trade ports. In 1999 Shimizu celebrated its centenary as an international port.

Shimizu Port Festival (Shimizu Minato Matsuri)

Commemorating the date of the official opening of Shimizu Port, the festival is held on the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of August. The highlight is the Minato Kappore, a dance performed enmasse along Satsuki Avenue.

In the evening, the festival will come to a close with a seaside fireworks celebration, which features 10,000 fireworks exploding in the night sky. Nearby are Miho Pine Beach and the home stadium of the J-League soccer team, the Shimizu S-pulse.

Season: Held at Satsuki Dori, Hinode Pier, and other locations in the weekend – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – of the first Sunday in August every year.

Shimizu Marine Park

The park includes a telpher line (an antique cable car system for cargo handling), an event plaza surrounded by sidewalks resembling European castle walls, a yacht harbor, and a skateboard park.

Featuring an historical port, yacht harbor views, and the relaxing atmosphere of the Shimizu Marine Park, the Hinode District of the Port of Shimizu is the perfect location for the S-Pulse Dream Plaza. On a clear day one can see Mt. Fuji from the Dream Sky Ferris wheel. So spectacular is the view that many people come from the interior parts of the country to experience it.
