Japan Monkey Park is located on a hillside, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Nihon Rhine. The Monkey Park is a combination of a zoological garden devoted especially to monkeys (Japan Monkey Centre) and an amusement park (Japan Monkey Park). In the Japan Monkey Centre, an expansive facility of over 250,000m², you can admire monkeys from all over the world and study about the life and natural habitats of the monkeys on display.

This Japan Monkey Park only here in the world of such which is crammed with such attractions as the Atomic roller coaster: `Canyon Splash`, a thrilling carpet ride: `Eagle Coaster`, a large Ferris wheel from which you can see four castles, and a merry-go-round. Adults as well as children can have a great time.

This Park is combined amusement park with ape’s zoo, consisting of 70 kinds primates from Asia, Africa and South America, the park boasts a collection of about 900 monkeys. Based upon classification of natural habitats, the monkeys can be viewed in open-air as well as housed exhibits. The grounds also host an amusement park; visitors can enjoy its fantastic rides all year long.



After learning about monkeys in the Japan Monkey Centre you might enjoy The Japan Monkey Park with its more than 30 rides and other amusement facilities. In summer, especially, the pool is a very popular (but crowded!) location. So the Monkey Park combines study of monkeys and fun, for all ages!

Japan Monkey Center

Japan Monkey Center is a unique Primates museum in the world which carries about a thousand of primates classified to a hundred different spices from all over the world.

Our museum is filled with the variety of facilities, such as, “Visitor Center” which provides you with the guideline to learn and study the life of living monkeys , “Gibbon Inland”, “Spider Monkeys Inland” ” Squirrel Monkey Inland” and ” Monkey Valley-troop of Japanese Yaku Monkeys”, where you will enjoy watching their real lives.

Also, recently renovated Pavilion for South American monkeys invites you to the world of Central and South American monkeys and some nocturnal monkeys. You will have a pleasant and a relaxed time, surrounded by plenty of nature and primates at this center.

How much does it cost? Adults (High school and older): 1,500 yen Elementary / Junior High School: 800 yen

Preschoolers (older than 3 years): 600 yen

When is it open? March until November: 9:30 – 17:00 July 20th until August 31st: 9:30 – 18:00 December 1 until February 11th: 9:30 – 16:30

Closed from February 12th to the end of February.

How can you get there?

  • By car: Drive on Route 41 to Inuyama and follow the road signs.
  • By train: 4 min by monorail from Inuyama Yuen (Meitetsu Inuyama Station Bus 5min). Take the Meitetsu Train to Inuyama Yuen Station and transfer to the Monorail. Get off at Dobutsu-en Station.
