Yusanji Temple, one of the 3 distinguished temples of Enshu – A sacred temple having a miraculous effect on eye disease.
Located 6 km northeast of Fukuroi Station, Yusanji Temple is an old temple of the Singon Sect that is called “Aburayama” and admired by many people, This temple is said to have originated in 749 A.D. when the high priest Gyoki enshrined a statue of Yakushi-Nyorai (Healing Buddha) that was sculptured in the hope of people’s good health and peacefulness. It is also famous for the legend associated with the healing of an eye disease of the Emperor Koken.

Hattasan Temple
Hattasan Yakuyoke-Kannon Temple, one of the 3 distinguished temples of Enshu – Enshrined the Buddha that wards away evil fortune.
Hattasan Son’eiji Temple is located 5 km southeast of Fukuroi Station. It is an old temple of the Singon Sect of Buddhism that is called “Hattasan” and admired by many people, This temple is said to have been launched by the high priest Gyoki in 725 A.D.. The Kanzeon-Bosatsu (Buddha of Mercy) enshrined in this temple is well known as the Buddha who wards off people’s evil fortune. The amulet rice dumpling sold in the temple has a superb taste.

Kasuisai Temple
Kasuisai Temple, one of the 3 distinguished temples of Enshu – A sacred temple for protection against fire.
Kasuisai Temple is located 4 km north of Fukuroi Station and is called “Okasui”. It is admired by many people and is one of the most famous temples of Soto Zen Buddhism in the Tokai Area. This temple is said to date back to 1394 A.D. and is named after the legend of the great shogun leyasu. It is widely known that the 11th chief priest Tozen was called “Kasui Osho”. An image of Shogun leyasu transferred from Mt. Akiba is enshrined in this temple. Also dont miss Peony Garden in Kasuisai Temple.
