Mt. Gozaisho is the highest peak in the Suzuka range. An aerial rope-way allows visitors to climb to the peak from Yunoyama onsen (hot spring spa), at the foot of the mountain. Mt. Gozaisho-Dake is noted for its splendid autumn colors, which can be viewed from the facilities at the summit.
The visitor will also find the Antelope Center, featuring antelope from around the world. Yunoyama Spa is a great place to relax and unwind, once you have returned from the mountain.
In Spring five-leaf azaleas in full bloom. Summer changes with a different world where even red dragonflies go to escape the heat. In Winter frost is covered trees that shine white and silver and Autumn Mt. Gozaisho changes with gorgeous-looking autumn leaves.
During the Autumn months, the rhododendron trees that cover Mt. Gozaisho change from green to an impressive array of colors including red, orange and yellow. As this transformation occurs leaf by leaf, branch by branch, Mt. Gozaisho bursts into a symphony of color. The leaves begin to change at the summit during mid-October, and the display of colors reaches Yunoyama Onsen (Hot springs) at the base around late-November, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the fall foliage at Mt. Gozaisho.
Gozaisho Ropeway (Cable Car) and Ski Resort
This ropeway connects the Yunoyama Hot Springs and the summit of Mt. Gozaisho, which rises 1212 meters above sea level. Each season offers a different spectacular experience on the ropeway. Spring brings new greenery and blooming flowers.
During the summer, the summit of Mt. Gozaisho boasts temperatures up to 10 degrees cooler than those at the base and red dragonflies that seem to dance in the air. During the winter months, you can marvel at the frost covered evergreens while hitting the slopes at Mt. Gozaisho’s ski area.
There is Summit of Mt. Gozaisho – a sign has been placed on the summit of Mt. Gozaisho that reads, “Elevation: 1,212m.” From Choyodai Observatory there is a view of the city of Nagoya, Chubu International Airport, and the northern Alps in the distance.
Fujimi-iwa Observatory is a platform that was given this name because there is a view of Mt. Fuji when the weather is clear. There is also Ontake Shrine and Restaurant Azalea where visitors can take in the view while eating. There are many kinds of events.
