Ryukyu wild boar lives on the Amami islands, Okinawa Main Island, Ishigaki Island, and Iriomote Island. Compared with a Japanese wild boar, it is small, and is a primitive species in the Asia wild boar system. The body is thickset, and the length of a trunk is 85cm, the length of the tail is approximately 14cm. The eyes are small and the ears shape is a triangle, and the color of the body is deep brown to black. The nose is long and becomes the shovel when digging up soil while looking for food. It is nocturnal and is an omnivorous animal, which eats eggs, plants, insects, frogs, snakes, and birds, etc.
