Omote (southern) Lake Hamana Area (Kanzanji, Yuto, Maisaka), blessed with the natural beauty of the Enshu Sea and Lake Hamana, is known as the entrance to Lake Hamana. In Kanzanji, Yuto, and Bentenjima Hot Springs there are many nice hotels and inns. The coast of Lake Hamana is known for its warm climate and abundant sunshine, ideal for mandarin orange cultivation. The flowers, grown mainly in Shonai and Kan-zanji on the shores of Lake Hamana, are sent all over the country from Kanto to Hokkaido.

Lake Hamana, where one can witness the scenic peaks of all four seasons as well as enjoy the fruits of the ocean, is one of the top resort spots in Japan. At the heart of this resort area is Kanzanji and Bentenjima. Whether yachting, sailing, fishing, or collecting shells, the appeal of this area never dwindles. At Kanzanji, there is a zoo, a flower park, an amusement park, a rope-way and many other attractions for family or group trips. In the summer it is an especially breathtaking sight to see the fireworks reflect off the lake’s surface.
