Takindoguchi underwater park (Natural refuge region) in Taketomi Island of Yaeyama Islands

Takindoguchi underwater park is located in and around the north peninsula on northern part of Taketomi Island. It belongs to Kuroshio Current, also the area is 83.1ha, and is a beautiful coral reef. A coral reef is situated in the place, which is not deep, and the coral in the shape of a table or a branch grows thick. There are stone coral such as, Stony corals or Hama corals, Kikumeishi, Tokage corals and the characteristic fishes, which inhabit a coral reef zone as Umitosaka, Suzumedai family, Thotyouo family, Bera family flock here abundantly.
