Tategasaki is a huge wall of rock (about 80m Height, 550m area) jutting into the entrance of Nigishima Bay and offers spectacular views of waves advancing into Kumano-nada Sea.

Senjojiki is an excellent site from which to view the scenery. It is said that Emperor Jinmu landed here on his way to his conquest in the East.

Getting There:
Ninety-minute walk from JR Nigishima station. Tategasaki can also be reached by a scenic boat ride along the coast from the harbor cruise Tategasaki Niki (Reservation is required, ¥2000 for adults)
