The Tokugawa Art Museum has permanent exhibits of the tools of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa feudal lords, such as Japanese swords and armor, tea ceremony utensils, and Noh costumes. Be sure not to miss the limited-time displays of the Tale of Genji picture scrolls (designated a National Treasure), and the Hina dolls and Doll Festival furnishings of the Owari Tokugawa clan. It has the national treasure scroll, “The Illustrated Tale of Genji”, a tea room; the formal chamber of a Daimyo’s residence; a Noh stage, swords, and much more.

The Hosa Library is centered around the Owari Tokugawa clan’s former collection of books, housing and displaying approximately 110,000 of Japan and China’s old masterworks. It was transferred from the Tokugawa family to Nagoya City in 1950. Presently the library has about 110,000 items including classic literature. The library cooperates closely with the neighboring Tokugawa Art Museum and the Tokugawa Garden. The Hosa Library is located on the compound of the Ozone Shimoyashiki (a former residence of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa clan) in Ozone, Nagoya City.

Tokugawa Art Museum Fee: Adults: ¥ (JPY) 1,200 – ¥ (JPY) 1,000, College and Sr. high school students ¥ (JPY) 700 – ¥ (JPY) 600. Jr. high and elementary school students ¥ (JPY) 500 – ¥ (JPY) 400. Saturdays: Free for all elementary, Jr., and Sr. high school students.

Tokugawa Art Museum Hours: 10.00-17.00 (Last Entry at 16.30)

Closed: Every Monday (Or the following day if a national or substitute holiday falls on a Monday), mid-December to the new year.

Hosa Library Fee: Reference Room: Free of charge. Exhibition Room: Entrance fee required. Opening hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Admission until 4.30 p.m.)

Hosa Library Hours: Mondays (If a Monday is a national holiday, the closing day will be the immediate succeeding weekday) and from the middle of December through January 3rd.
