Gamagori is located in the middle of Japan, on the island of Honshu and is a seaside resort city. It is part of the Mikawa Natural Park that extends over 28 km, and it lies between the Atsumi and Chita Peninsulas. The city has many Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples which are full of Japanese culture. It is a beautiful place.

History
It is believed that people settled here for the first time about 8500 years ago. It has always been a land blessed with a mild climate and riches from the sea, and is a wonderful place to live. It became a city in 1954 and its 50 year anniversary will be held in 2004.
Climate
Gamagori is a seaside town located in the middle of the Atsumi and the Chita Peninsulas. It has a mild climate. Even if it snows, the snow rarely settles. It also seldom rains and generally, it rains for less than 10% of the year. Fruit production flourishes in this climate and Gamagori’s production of mandarin oranges is famous all over Japan. Gamagori produces the most greenhouse raised mandarin oranges in all of Japan, and is also the largest producer of rope.
